From A4SEE Internship to a Fulfilling Career: Zofia's Success Story

Zofia Tyczynska, a graduate in Mechanical Engineering – Biomechanical Design from TU Delft, embarked on an Academia to Industry internship as part of the A4SEE project at Motek, a prominent medical device company. Motek, a valued partner within the European A4SEE consortium, not only provided her with an enriching internship experience but also recognized her talent, offering her a role as a Development Engineer. Exploring Zofia's Internship Experience:

During my time at Motek, I was fortunate to engage in three distinct roles within the Development Department. Initially, I closely collaborated with the Technical Project Lead for one of the products, gaining invaluable insights. Subsequently, I partnered with the Test Engineer to contribute to testing newly developed software. Finally, I found my true passion within the Operational Engineering team, a role that ultimately led to my employment.

My most important takeaway from the internship was understanding how the medical device company operates. During my studies I learned about the principles of medical devices, what their purpose should be and how they can benefit patients. But I didn’t learn much about the requirements that need to be fulfilled during the development process of the medical device, and what regulations need to be followed.

Highlights of the Internship:

My time at Motek was anything but boring – every moment was a learning opportunity. I particularly appreciated being part of testing solutions on Motek's devices, which included interacting with training applications. The Motek team was integral; I felt warmly welcomed, with every colleague willing to share their expertise and address my queries.

I encourage fellow students to carefully select a company aligned with their field of interest. Personally, my role's resonance with my academic background significantly enhanced my job satisfaction.
